What this is all about

I’m an environmental engineer, with a focus on water supply and wastewater, and I hold my PE license in Virginia and Maryland. Both states recently added requirements for completing professional development hours to maintain a PE license. Right now, online self-paced courses are the best fit for me to meet this requirement, so I started reviewing cost, availability of courses I’m interested in, and quality at a variety of online training provider that have been approved. I’m probably not the only one trying to figure out how well these providers do what they say they will do (we are engineers, after all), so I wanted to share my results with others who might be asking the same questions.

My primary focus right now is:

  • Completing the 24 hour requirement for the State of Maryland (this also covers my requirement for 16 hours in the Commonwealth of Virginia)
  • Courses in the subject areas of water supply, wastewater, storm water, low impact development, leadership and managing your own business
  • Online self-paced courses (not webinars or scheduled courses)
  • Learning valuable information at a competitive price

If you have used any of these training providers or if you would like to provide a review that covers a different engineering subject area, please contact me in the comments.
